MALAYSIA HIGHLANDS CYCLING TRAINING CAMP
21st-24th January 2012
(Chinese New Year Weekend)
This camp comprises 4 days of intensive cycling in the Pahang State of Malaysia with some optional runs thrown in for the Ironmen.
You will take in some great climbs amongst the spectacular tea plantations and former colonial mountain retreats of Genting Highlands, Cameron Highlands and Fraser’s Hill. Linking these historic sites will be some long steady rides that will allow you to notch up to 500km of riding over the long weekend.
There are some tough climbs on this camp and for this reason this camp is aimed at intermediate and advanced riders only.
PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
The Pehang region of Malaysia is famous for its highlands that provided the former British colonialists with the perfect cool climate for growing their much beloved tea and an ideal getaway from the heat of the lowlands during the summer months. Little did they know that years later that we would be benefit from the legacy they left behind to provide us with a stunning backdrop upon which to base a long weekend of intensive cycling.
Day 1 takes you north from Sungkai to Cameron Highlands, culminating in a 60km ascent to the top. Day 2 will involve the longest ride where you will cycle 180km from Cameron Highlands to Fraser’s Hill, our base for the final two nights of the camp. 3 will be a day for exploring the descents and climbs around the picturesque Fraser’s Hill area. Day 4 cycling will be shorter, 95km but nonetheless equally challenging as it ends with a legendary climb up Genting Highlands.
The camp will be lead by Metasport coaches with back up provided by a support vehicle and driver to provide for your training nutrition and hydration needs and help with any mechanical problems.
