RUN AND MAKE A GREEN IMPACT

It’s the simple things that you do everyday that can make an impact on the world around you. The Green Dot Challenge is designed to offer the opportunity to do the sport you love, whilst highlighting sustainable race day solutions, and lifestyle habits.

We are committed to the United Nations Sport for Climate Change agreement. This means that green awareness is at the forefront of all our decisions with regard to delivering this event, and all others moving forward.

We are also forging partnerships with companies who are active in the green space. Singapore Environment Council is leading the charge in Singapore to advise corporations and individuals how to make decisions with green accountability in mind. MetaSport is embarking on their GreenDNA journey towards sustainability.

A “green app” will soon be launched that will engage you and encourage you in your green sustainability journey. It will also offer a reward system for your green efforts, watch this space!

The traditional athlete items model is being re-evaluated. The Green Dot Challenge is offering recyclable and/or reusable substitutes for the traditional finisher medal, pot plants instead of trophies for winners, and vouchers for discounts on future race entries or training sessions instead of mass-produced goodies.

We have especially designed the courses so that there is one in each corner of the island, to give you the opportunity to “race local”. This saves you commuting time, but also transport and emission costs.

The format of the race, with it’s minimal infrastructure, is environmentally friendly. No mass produced PVC branding and course signage. No drink stations laden with plastic cups. The MyRaceGate app will guide and track your effort, and provide you with motivational cheers as you run.

We are also promoting sustainable clothing and shoe choices, and working with a partner to facilitate the recycling of old running shoes.

Join us as we make a difference. It’s a path that promotes health and fitness on a personal level, and contributes to the collective good for our planet. With a little bit of effort everyone wins, and that can only be a good thing.
